Salvatorians - A Worldwide Family
The Salvatorians are an international Roman Catholic religious order of priests and brothers whose official title is The Society of the Divine Saviour (In Latin Socetatis Divini Salvatoris –hence the name Salvatorians).
Today we have about 1200 members living and working in thirty-five countries throughout the world. Our members are engaged in a wide variety of apostolic work, each with the aim of making the Divine Saviour more widely known and loved.
The Salvatorians have responsibility for parishes, schools, chaplaincies and many other apostolates and are known for their diversity and enthusiasm for working with people from all walks of life.
Our Motherhouse is in Rome just in front of St Peter’s Basilica and it is there that the Superior General and his councillors reside and administer the worldwide Society. The Society is divided into Provinces, Pro-Provinces and Vicariates and each of these units is made up of local communities.
Our Founder Father Francis Jordan also established a parallel order of religious women, The Sisters of the Divine Saviour –The Salvatorian Sisters– who share our spirituality and mission. Their Motherhouse is at Salvator Mundi, Monteverdi in Rome and they work with us in many parts of the world.
Also part of the Salvatorian Family are lay people who belong to the International Community of the Divine Saviour –The Lay Salvatorians– and they are also present alongside us in many countries. Father Jordan understood the importance of the role of the laity in the Church and the Lay Salvatorians and under his inspiration the Lay Salvatorians carry out their apostolate in many different ways.
